National Directors Roundtable PreConference Workshop:
The Changing Role of A Director and Officer's
Responsibilities and Liabilities
(Additional $195)

Presented by:
Tom Glatt, Jr
Executive Consultant/Owner
Glatt Consulting, LLC

The role of a credit union board has changed. Every credit union board now has six specific principles that must guide their decisions. These principles include ensuring a basis for effective governance, preserving the rights of members and key ownership functions, ensuring the equitable treatment of members, recognizing the role of stakeholders in credit union governance, ensuring disclosure and transparency in all material matters, and ensuring the credit union's strategic guidance. By failing to recognize and adopt the broad responsibilities associated with these principles, a board and its individual members invites ineffectiveness at best, and personal liability at worst.

Join Glatt Consulting, LLC Executive Consultant and Owner Tom Glatt, Jr. for a hard-hitting, frank, and interactive PreConference discussion of the changes underway in board governance and the impact of these changes on board roles, responsibilities, and liability. Whether you are new to your board, or are a director with years of experience, you will find this session essential to ensuring you stay on top of what is expected of you as a member of the board.

Among the discoveries you’ll make:

  • The roles and responsibilities you take on in a principles-driven system of board governance;
  • The activities you should be engaging in at every board meeting, and at every strategic planning session;
  • The nature and limits of your personal liability;
  • The steps you can, and should take to protect your credit union and yourself from fines, penalties, and lawsuits;
