David A. Reed, ESQ is an attorney, author, consultant and nationally recognized speaker. He is a partner in the law firm of Reed and Jolly, PLLC and founder of CU Doctor, a full service credit union consulting practice.  Through Reed and Jolly, Mr. Reed provides guidance to credit unions concerning a variety of matters including the establishment and revision of credit union policies and procedures, organizational compliance, collections, security, contractual agreements, regulatory matters and corporate governance.  His engaging speaking style has garnered him status as a regular presenter nationwide on topics such as regulatory compliance, consumer lending, and bankruptcy and collections.  And, he offers facilitation services and a full range of on-site training programs that can be delivered to the Board, executive team, managers or frontline staff.

A former trial attorney and Vice President and General Counsel of a large credit union, Mr. Reed is particularly noted as an expert in the areas of credit union operations, bankruptcy and collections.  He has been selected to train NCUA Field Examination and Audit Staff on numerous issues including ID Theft Red Flags, S.A.F.E Act, Third Party Contract Management and Bankruptcy matters.  He also serves as editor of several industry manuals including Collections Manual for Credit Unions and Bankruptcy Guide for Credit Unions.

Mr. Reed received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in 1986 and his Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law in 1989.   He is a Certified Compliance Officer and resides in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife Diane and their twin daughters.  Also a member of the credit union family, his wife, Diane, is President of CU Doctor, LLC.


Diane Reed is a nationally recognized speaker, writer and communications professional who currently serves as President of CUDoctor, a full-service credit union consultancy, assisting credit unions nationwide with human resource, marketing, community relations, compliance, sales, training and executive support.  Prior to joining CUDoctor, Diane served for more than a decade as Vice President of Administration for a mid-sized credit union where she oversaw the credit union’s Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development, Community Relations, Training, Compliance and Sales functions.  Her unique integrated approach to culture creation and maintenance has already proven an asset to the credit union movement.  Diane’s expertise in “Service-Oriented Culture Change” has been cited in such publications as “Credit Union Times”, “Credit Union Management” and a host of other industry magazines.  She has co-authored cross-discipline (Human Resources and Security) articles such as “Bad Guys Don’t Always Wear Black” published in “Credit Union Magazine.”  And, her marketing expertise has been featured in articles for “Exhibit Builder” and “Business Management” magazines.

Diane strongly believes in making financial literacy accessible to everyone, including our children.  As part of her credit union’s community outreach program, she is responsible for bringing five In School Branches to area schools, three in high schools and two in elementary schools.  As a result, the credit union received numerous awards for its outreach efforts, both within the credit union industry and from the state and federal governments.  One of her high school branches was featured on Dateline NBC and its In School Branch Liaison was invited to present financial literacy training at The White House.  Additionally, one of her elementary branches was even recognized with a visit from the Treasurer of the United States.

She also strongly believes that the future of our industry lies in the talents and commitment of our staff. As such, in partnership with CUNA, Diane has developed our industry’s first certification in Human Resources compliance. It is her goal to staff credit unions with top notch professionals, granting them the respect they deserve.

Today, she serves not only as a speaker, writer and consultant in the credit union arena, but serves as a volunteer as well, donating numerous hours through the Northern Virginia Chapter of Credit Unions. She attended The American University and graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Speech Communication.  Diane currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband David and twin 21 year old daughters, Alexa and Catie.
