Stephen Y. H. Kwock, CPA, is the principal of Kwock & Company CPAs.  His passion for the credit union industry stems from his experience in providing consulting and audit services to credit unions and banks since 1978.  The firm of Kwock & Company CPAs concentrates their practice in the credit union industry.

Mr. Kwock is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Hawaii Society of CPAs and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  He is a past member of the AICPA Credit Unions Committee (1998-1999).  He was the director of the credit union practice in the Western United States for KPMG from 1996 through 2000.  He has conducted workshops and seminars on the national, regional and local levels for NCUA regulators, financial service associations and his credit union clients.  He is the past chairman and director of the Hawaii State Board of Accountancy (1997- 2005).

Currently, his firm conducts independent audits for 30 credit unions in Hawaii and Guam and provides internal audit co-sourcing and regulatory compliance engagements to several depository and lending institutions in Hawaii.  His firm’s consulting engagements also include mergers and acquisitions, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance, BSA/OFAC compliance, Allowance for Loan Losses validation, Enterprise Risk Management assessments, ACH Audits, Risk Base Pricing Validations, fraud audits and NCUA supervisory committee audits.

He contributes his time as a director of Damien Memorial School, Koola’u Catering and Golf Course LLC.  He is married with three children and enjoys surfing, paddling canoes and playing the guitar.

Brian Smith-Vandergriff joined Financial Management Services in 2014 after almost 13 years with a broker/dealer and registered investment advisor serving depositories from coast to coast.  He has extensive experience in advising client institutions on balance sheet management strategies, interest rate risk, investments, and other strategic efforts.  He has been a frequent speaker at industry events and continues to serve as a member of the board of directors at Catholic Family CU.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.  He also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Grenoble Ecole de Management (Grenoble, France) with a research focus on the role of investments on the performance of financial institutions.
